Well, we are betrayed by our synthetic mind. One of the reasons is often the way our teachers wanted us to understand a remedy in a picture, an image.Kent warned us all NOT to do this. His purpose in writing his MM was for mnemonic aid on one side, as well as to prevent his students to prescribe on names of diseases. There exists no remedy picture. There are no Lycopodiums , no Bryonia’s.There are so many pictures of remedies as there are clinical cases.Another reason is the wrong understanding of the totality concept.Totality means the completeness( sensation, modalities, concommittants, location, causality) of a homeopathic symptom , nothing more, nothing less.it can be reduced to one symptom of one organ sometimes.Finish.
If one studies the Materia Medica Pura and The Chronic Diseases of our Master, there are no pictures of remedies.Instead there are 1000 symptoms and more of a remedy.
With our “ experience” and delusion that we know our MM, we expect too much when we think we see a remedy coming up.So expectation is a third reason. We know or better THINK we know Bryonia for instance, so that we too easily go away from it when we do not see a “clear Bryonia picture”: no dry mouth, no stitching pains, no thirst, no constipation etc….
A neophyte does not have these problems in the beginning, but will also become a victim of it later on, if we do not drastically change our way of teaching.Look at the homeopathic situation now.A lot of explanation, a lot of new homeopathy, revolutionary homeopathy, homeopathic families of remedies, etc…. But dear friends very POOR results.By all means not enough to attract allopaths.
